Weight Gain Foods

The best thing that you can do to gain some extra mass is to start eating calorie dense food that is also healthy for you, and yes, such things actually do exist. One fantastic food to start with is almonds. It is nutrient rich and a cup of whole almonds contains 822 calories. This basically means that you can eat a portion of this great food everyday to gain almost an extra thousand calories and yet be able to do this without feeling sick to your stomach.

Eating so-called "health" foods can stop any attempt at weight loss and even make you gain weight without even realizing it. Calories are more important than low fat, low carb, high protein or food claiming so-called "health" benefits. When the extra calories of health foods make you gain weight any benefit, if any, is eliminated by the clear dangers of weight gain.

Have you ever thought about how a doughnut is made? It is basically sugar mixed with flour, fried in saturated fats and then sprinked with even more sugar! Far out. This is one food that really shouldn't even be eaten as a treat and yet we see people (especially in the USA) eating them on a daily basis.

On the whole, humans didn't have to worry about getting fat until we began to adopt a more sedentary lifestyle, starting around the dawn of the industrial age. As we became more civilized, we started eating more and more processed foods, high in sugars and fats-that's when all hell broke loose and we started needing to go on "diets."

Eggs represent the biological building block of life, concentrated in a small, under-100 calorie package. As such, they are the most anabolic of all weight gain foods. Try to eat a lot of them - a dozen or more a day. This is completely safe to do, and will provide you with huge weight gain benefits.

With 5-6 grams of both protein and fat in each little egg, and with prices as low as a dollar per dozen in some grocery stores, this is a muscle weight gain food that cannot be beat. If you're in serious need of calories to grow, you would do well to eat the whole egg. The yolk contains healthy mono- and polyunsaturated fats, half of the egg's protein, and several essential amino acids and vitamins that you will not find in the white.

Hypothyroidism is defined by having an underactive thyroid. The thyroid is the gland located beneath the larynx (voice box) and secretes the hormones that regulate metabolism and growth. As an underactive thyroid produces less of this hormone as it would in a person with a normal thyroid, a person suffering hypothyroidism will also suffer from a low metabolism. This, in turn, may cause weight gain.
