Boost Metabolism Foods

Dieting and weight loss is a dark cloud that looms over many people's lives on a daily basis. One thing is for certain; society's rules for what we value in people has changed, and it seems like there is a huge emphasis on the way we look. Regardless of how you see this, one thing is for certain: the way we feel about ourselves is very closely linked to the way we look. Everything we experience in life we experience in our bodies.

It is important to boost the metabolism and keep it in the running position so that your body can burn more and more calories. Metabolism breaks down food and nutrients that enters in the body. Metabolism is working all the time. The more active metabolism will burn more calories.

It tastes nice and boosts metabolism, according to many studies. Green tea speeds up your brain and nervous system and causes your body to burn more calorie. Green tea contains high amounts of polyphenols which activate the enzyme that is responsible for dissolving excess triglyceride which is often turned into fat. Moreover many of its health benefits are due to powerful antioxidants called catechin polyphenols.

Green Tea has an active ingredient known as epigallocatechin gallate or EGCG. This is said to increase the body heat during the digestion and metabolism of food. This is known as thermogenesis and will increase the overall consumption of calories that may aid weight loss. Green tea can be taken as an extract or as a drink. Many green tea products contain caffeine that has been touted as a way to increase the metabolism but given that there are other side effects excessive caffeine consumption it is not recommended.

"Basal metabolism" is the metabolic rate or caloric expenditure needed to maintain basal body functions such as your heart beating, breathing, muscle tone, etc. It's how fast your "motor" is running when your still in a reclines position or sleeping. Basal metabolism accounts for about 75% of the calories you expend on a daily basis! There is a simple formula for this and I will go over that in another article.

For some people the word metabolism is shrouded in mystery, and others think it is some kind of diet pill or something. The fact is that your metabolism is simply the rate at which your body burns off calories. And those calories come from the foods you eat. So the faster your metabolism the faster your body is turning your food and fat into heat energy.

If you have heard of people who have tried dieting but are unsuccessful, it is because they are probably eating much less than their calorie requirements. As a result, not only does their metabolism slow down and they will not see results, they can also end up feeling tired all day. There are 3 main ways to naturally boost the metabolic rate in your body.
